Folks using their Kindle Fire today may notice an update being pushed out over the air. The update is actually Kindle Fire firmware 6.2.2 and at the moment, not much is known about what it does.
Based on a report from Android Police, Firmware 6.2.2′s only visible improvement is a full-screen toggle button for the Silk browser. Amazon’s support page hasn’t been updated to reflect the 6.2.2 change, so the only other thing people know about the update is that it also breaks root once again. We’ll have more for you on the update as we get it.
In the meantime, if you don’t want to wait to get the update, XDA-Developer Forums user b63 has the 6.2.2 update available for download here. After downloading the file, place it in the kindleupdates folder on your Fire, then go and update your firmware by going to Settings > Device > Update Your Kindle.
