No, I’m not kidding.
Believe it or not, there appears to be a way to circumnavigate Amazon’s security procedures and ruthlessly acquire a book for free. I have absolutely no idea as to why anyone would do this given how cheap they are compared to the paperback variety but, hey. What do I know?
We at Kindle-Fu do not condone ruthlessly stealing money from starving authors. We are, however, committed to providing news that you would be interested in. It’s a bit of a difficult situation. Still, our loyalty is to our readers. So, here’s the scoop.
The general gist of it is this: the reason you can potentially download a multitude of books for free lies in some UI decisions that Amazon made. Thanks to how the Kindle Fire is constructed, it appears to be possible to get the aforementioned freebie by initiating a download before canceling it. Then, very quickly, you’ll have to flip back to the carousel and launch the book. If you’re lucky, the book will continue downloading and you’ll be set. However, if you exit the book, it’ll delete itself. Nifty, eh?
Again, I’m going to have to stress that we do not approve of this in any way whatsoever. The books are cheap. Buy them. But, you know, if you’re in the mood to risk an account suspension? Go ahead. Why not? You were going to download it from 4shared anyway, right?
