If you want to get 20 dollars off the purchase of a Kindle Fire, there’s certainly a way to do so. While you could buy used, the other possibility that’s now available is to get a refurbished model from Amazon themselves.
A Reddit thread recently brought to our attention the arrival of the refurbished versions of the Kindle Fire. The Fires are being sold through Amazon Warehouse Deals, which means that you’ll still get assistance through Amazon with your orders and further support as needed. At a US$179 price point, it’s a pretty solid bargain.
That said, a quick primer for those who aren’t used to buying electronic devices. Refurbished products are not brand new, per se, but they are essentially as good as new. Amazon will test the product for defects and repair it as needed. At the same time, some new products may also be rebranded as refurbished despite being brand new, so you’ll rarely be able to tell the difference between a brand new and a refurbished unit.
