It might take a little bit of effort but for the first time ever, perhaps, in the history of the Kindle Fire, we will have a Humble Bundle operating on our humble devices.
(Okay, to be fair, the history of the Kindle Fire can’t even be numbered in years yet but allow me my little dramatic moments, all right?)
For those who missed the memo, The Humble Bundle is amazing. Over the last few years, they’ve raised a few million dollars (a lot of which was directed to charity) by offering a collection of succulent indie games and an interesting price model. Pay anything you want. Anything you want. In fact, you can pick up the available games and leave without even dispensing a tip. Nonetheless, in spite of this overtly generous system, they’ve made a fortune.
(We’re planning an interview with the chaps at The Humble Bundle so if you’re curious to know more, check back in a few weeks on this.)
While they’ve been primarily focused on providing games for the PC and the Mac, the Humble Bundle recently switched angles and directed their attention to the mobile platform. In this installment, interested parties will be able to acquire EDGE, Anomaly: Warzone Earth, Osmos and the World of Goo for Windows, Mac, Linux and … yes, the Android. In other words, the system that your Kindle Fire is so precariously mounted on.
To install your games, you just need to follow these instructions (credit goes to iufreak on Reddit):
1) Go to Kindle Fire settings menu
2) Go to ‘Device’
3) Switch ‘Allow Installation of Applications From Unknown Sources’ on.
4) Open Humble Bundle download page
5)Click ‘Show Android Binaries’ under the instructions on the Android download tab
6) Each time you click one scroll up and click ‘Download anyway’.
7) Go to downloads at the top left and tap on the individual items and it should let you install them
Profit
Some people have reported problems getting this to work. If you’re one of the unfortunate few, there’s a fair number of other solutions to be found online.
Get The Humble Bundle here. (Have we mentioned you can choose the amount that goes to charity? No? Well, I’m mentioning it now.)
