The folks at GeekWire acquired some interesting data recently: a leaked slide from a USA Today presentation that shows how many times its app has been downloaded. While the iPhone and Android apps have millions of downloads already and the iPad app has 2.9 million downloads, for us at KindleFu, it’s the Kindle Fire statistics relative to other tablets that makes us smile.
The number? According to the slide, the Kindle Fire app has gotten 260,000 downloads already. By comparison, other Android tablets have had around 13,000 downloads. While it’s not in the millions like the iPad’s numbers, it’s a pretty good showing for a tablet that’s less than half a year old.
Of course, this is only from one content provider that has various methods of informing people of the app, so we can’t really make a great generalization out of it that tells how well the Fire is doing. At the very least though, we can say that the number Kindle Fire users are growing, which is good for Amazon, and excellent news for KindleFu.
