Historical analyses can be quite the fun read when you get into the nitty-gritty of why something happened and its repercussions on history as a whole. On that end, today’s Kindle Daily Deal, Washington’s Crossing, deals with George Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River in December 1776 and its effects. This book goes into the repercussions of the crossing, such as the destruction of the Hessian garrison of Trenton and the defeat of a British brigade at Princeton. It also takes a look the motivations of each force playing a role in the conflict, adding gravitas to a situation that’s well-known in American history.

Washington’s Crossing is currently available for US$1.99 via this link as part of the Kindle Daily Deal.

Today’s Kindle Daily Deal is another book with a rather long title and a great cause: bettering one’s self. Deepak Malhotra’s I Moved Your Cheese: For Those Who Refuse to Live as Mice in Someone Else’s Maze takes its own approach to self-improvement by using the mice metaphor popularized in Who Moved My Cheese? and turning it on its head. In Malhotra’s book, the answer to growth in one’s personal and professional life isn’t simply to adapt. Instead, Malhotra asks us to look for the ways in which we hold ourselves back and challenge those notions in order to reshape our environment and thinking.

I Moved Your Cheese: For Those Who Refuse to Live as Mice in Someone Else’s Maze is available for US$0.99 through the Kindle Store link here.

The story of Resurrection happens on two fronts: on one end, you have some explorer aliens who have lost their ship and are now stranded in ancient Egypt. On the other end, you have two warring planets that have been decimated by the war and are now looking to the explorers’ ship as a means of rebuilding their technology.
Michael Sims delves into the world of vampires with Dracula’s Guest: A Connoisseur’s Collection of Victorian Vampire Stories. In it, you’ll find tales of Victorian-era vampires taken from England, America, France, Germany, Transylvania, and Japan, and all of them have varying takes on the legendary bloodsucking menace.

In Brian Freemantle’s Ice Age, we are treated to a rather scary thought: What if the polar ice caps were protecting us from something more immediate and deadlier than a flood? In this case, what if the melting released a virus that rapidly accelerates aging. How would scientists of this day and age try and stop something that hasn’t been known since the ice caps were formed?

With slim chances like that, it’ll take a whole lot of ingenuity to find out just how the world survives. If this books kindles your interest, feel free to purchase it at the Kindle store as part of today’s Kindle Daily Deal for US$0.99 through this link.

There are a lot of different ways to do the procedures necessary for rooting one’s Kindle Fire. There are hard ways, and then there’s the Kindle Fire Utility way.

Over on the Android Authority website is a tutorial that shows the exact steps you need to do to root and install recovery functions for your Kindle Fire using the Kindle Fire Utility. The instructions are easy to follow, and there are also some screenshots of the processes so you don’t get lost.

While it’s not a completely guaranteed way of getting root down into your Fire (the author mentions getting a yellow triangle error in some attempts, but there’s a simple workaround), it’s a fast way to doing so, so long as you follow directions and don’t panic.

According to Amazon’s press release, the new fulfillment center will be a one million square foot center. Investment into this new facility is currently said to exceed $90 million. The first fulfillment center in Delaware was built in New Castle in 1997.

Today’s Kindle Daily Deal isn’t your typical love story. It features a young woman and a vampire who manage to fall in love despite the blood lust the woman inspires in the vampire. Of course, this also isn’t just any vampire book, because it’s got a shapeshifting werewolf in the tale, making for a rather complicated love affair.

The book, as you can probably guess, is Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight. This ebook is available for US$2.99 through this link, though this particular deal only works in the United States and Canada.

Amazon appears to be on the lookout for folks who can create the next big show for kids and comedy fans. Two new job postings have come up regarding creative executives for a children’s half-hour series and a comedy half-hour series “for online and traditional distribution.”

The job postings were found on the official Twitter of Amazon Studios over the weekend. Amazon Studios asks for pitches, screenplays, and test movies from people on the web and awards cash prizes to budding filmmakers in addition to helping them find an agent in exchange for first right to purchase and develop or unlimited rights to show the uploaded works through Amazon Instant Video.

Not much else is known about these job postings and what they entail. Whether they intend to look for new screenplays or test shows or adapt existing properties they own for a half-hour series remains to be seen. In either case, we’ll learn soon enough how well their approach will work for them.
